Testwell Vice President Guilty of Faking Safety Tests

Testwell Laboratories Inc. vice president Vincent Barone today became the second company official found guilty of faking safety tests on concrete and steel at such New York buildings as the Jet Blue Terminal at JFK International Airport and Yankee Stadium.

A New York City jury found Barone guilty of a scheme to defraud and 11 other counts, in addition to 14 pattern acts. Last week, when the judge took a partial verdict, the company and Chief Executive Officer V. Reddy Kancharla were found guilty of 29 counts and related charges of filing false documents with the city and faking business records. Today, Kancharla also was found guilty on additional charges, convicted of a total of 14 counts and 20 pattern acts. The company also was found guilty of dozens of additional charges today.

The jury still has not reached a verdict on the top charge of enterprise corruption — the state’s version of racketeering. They will continue deliberations tomorrow morning.[Read More]
